About Sita
From a very young age Sita has had a strong inclination to Art, Dance and Creativity. At the age of 13 she had her first Art Teacher.
She grew up in a very unique environment with many interesting people and surroundings. Her parents were travellers, so at a very young age Sita was exposed to all kinds of different cultures and customs.
Until this day she continues to travel to broaden her horizon, meet interesting and inspiring people and see unique places around the world. Now life has brought her, after marrying a New Zealander, to Aotearoa.
Kathak Dance
Inspired after seeing an Odissi (a Dance Style from Orissa, India) Performance Sita started at the age of 9 (1992) to learn Kathak Dance.
Kathak dance is for her not only a medium of expressing joy and feelings but a spiritual experience. She also travelled to India many times to experience the culture and to also learn Kathak at its source.
Over the period of 14 years she has had several teachers such as: Sankajit Guha, Durga Ariya, Malabika Sen, Soumya and Rumki Banerjee, Madhu Mishra and others.
